Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

 

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy offers individuals and married couples the opportunity to discharge their eligible unsecured debts (payday loans, credit cards, unpaid utility bills, etc.) while allowing them to keep some, or possibly all, of their belongings.

Incorporated businesses can also file for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy; however, they are not eligible for a discharge of their debts, instead Chapter 7 is used as a means of dissolving a company and providing closure to its owners.

Section 128

Wisconsin’s Section 128 offers a non-bankruptcy debt relief option that allows Wisconsin residents with regular income to pay back their unsecured debts (payday loans, credit cards, unpaid utility bills, etc.) over a period of 3 years with no interest.  Under Section 128, you can choose which unsecured debts you want to put into the plan and receive protection from those creditors while you make the plan payments.  This can be a good option if you are only behind on a few bills.
